On Saturday I took part in a colloquium for the first time. This was an opportunity for MA Live Art students to give ten minute presentations on their current thinking in relation to their final dissertation. As I am not yet at the stage of doing my dissertation (I will do mine next year) I gave a shorter five minute presentation on the work I have made using performance and moving image. This meant talking about HALA which I found challenging. I think that this might be because art making is for me a way to get away from words and language. As someone who has studied languages and linguistics and speaks four languages, art making is a welcome break from that. Nevertheless the challenge of outlining what I have been doing in my performance and moving image was a valuable way to look back on what I have done and reflect on how this work is changing.
